Grey Melcher has been experimenting with recording since he was a young boy, honing his craft while creating truly unique musical experiences. Over the years he has further developed his strengths as a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and composer, but he has garnered the respect of his peers for his work as a producer, arranger, musical director and composer for various bands and studio recording projects, as well.
Melcher plays an array of instruments including: synthesizers, drums (as well as unorthodox percussion), guitar (electric 6 and 12 string, acoustic), bass (electric four and five string , fretted and fretless), electric upright bass, Chapman Stick, 5 string banjo, penny and slide whistles as well as other miscellaneous gizmos. Those who've seen Grey's live performances have described his stage presence as intense and captivating, likening it to the experience of watching such artists as Klaus Nomi and David Byrne.
Though mostly known for his musical accomplishments,
Grey also pushes the limits of other mediums, continuous vehicles for his artistic visions.
Melcher resides in Portland, Oregon where he continues to stretch the boundaries of human understanding through art. |
